Ten-Man Timbers Gain Home Draw With Galaxy

At Providence Park, Portland, Oregon:  The Portland Timbers battled the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy to a 1-1 draw in Sunday Major League soccer action.   Kristoffer Velde scored for the Timbers in the 13th minute, then the Galaxy's Joao Klauss equalized in the 30th minute.   Portland's Kamal Miller was ejected in the 30th minute and the Timbers played the rest of the match with ten men. The Timbers' next MLS match will take place at Vancouver's BC place on Saturday, April 4 when they meet the Vancouver Whitecaps in Cascadia Cup clash (Apple TV/KRSK Radio 105.1 The Fan) at 7:30 PM PDT.  

Thorns Blank Visiting Reign Despite Two Players Being Ejected

At Providence Park, Portland, Oregon:  In the 44th edition of the Cascade Rivalry, Petra Tordin (28') and Reilyn Turner (37') each scored a first-half goal while goalkeeper Morgan Messner recorded her second shutout of the season as the Portland Thorns , despite being reduced to nine players because of ejections, blanked the visiting Seattle Reign 2-0 in Friday National Women's Soccer League action.   The Thorns will visit the San Diego Wave next Wednesday at 7:30 PM PDT (CBS Sports Network/KPTV, Portland).   

Timbers Drop Tough One In Houston

  At Shell Energy Stadium, Houston Guilherme Santos (62'), Felipe Andrade (77'), and Mateusz Bogusz (90'+16) each scored once as the Houston Dynamo defeated the visiting Portland Timbers 3-2 in Saturday night Major League Soccer action. Gage Guerra (45'+4) and Kristoffer Velde (79') provided the Timbers' goals. Portland will try to snap their current three-game losing streak next Sunday as they host the Los Angeles Galaxy at 1:45 PM Pacific Time (Apple TV/FOX Network/KRST 105.1 FM, 1080 AM).

Thorns Open NWSL Season With Road Win

At Audi Field, Washington: In Friday night's National Women's Soccer League regular-season opener, Olivia Moultrie scored in the 52nd minute as the Portland Thorns defeated the Washington Spirit 1-0 on the road.  Next up for the Thorns, a home match against the Seattle Reign at Providence Park next Saturday, starting at 7:00 PM Pacific Time and will be telecast (or streamed) on Prime Video.

Whitecaps Prove Too Much For Timbers In Portland

  At Providence Park, Portland, Oregon: Brian White scored twice (21' 87') on Saturday night as the Vancouver Whitecaps dominated the homestanding Portland Timbers 4-1 in Major League Soccer and Cascadia Cup play. Eric Izoita scored for the Timbers in the 72nd minute. The Timbers will try to straighten up next Saturday on the road against the Houston Dynamo at 5:30 PM Pacific Daylight Savings Time (TV: Apple/Radio KRSK 105.1 FM-1080 AM).

Thorns Set To Open Regular Season On March 13

  The Portland Thorns are set to open their National Women's Soccer League regular season on Friday, March 13 when they travel to Audi Field in the nation's capital to take on the Washington Spirit at 5:00 PM PDT.

Rapids Blank Visiting Timbers

At Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Commerce, Colorado: Hamzat Ojediran (7') and Lucas Herrington (53') each scored a goal on Saturday as the Colorado Rapids blanked the visiting Portland Timbers (reduced to ten men) 2-0 in Major League Soccer action.  The Timbers will play host to the Vancouver Whitecaps (in a Cascadia Cup match) next Saturday at 7:30 PM PDT (Apple TV/KRKA Radio 105.1 FM).
