Current Too Much For Thorns

 At CPKC Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri:


Lo'eau LaBonta (41'), Temwa Chawinga (63') and Haley Hopkins (90'+3) each scored once as the Kansas City Current defeated the visiting Portland Thorns 3-1 in Sunday NWSL action.


Sophia Wilson scored the lone Portland goal in the 14th minute.


The Thorns will play host to the Utah Royals this coming Saturday at 1:00 PM Pacific Time (ION TV).

Late Goal Gains Home Draw For Timbers With Loons

  At Providence Park, Portland, Oregon Omir Fernandez's equalizing goal in the second minute of second-half stoppage time lifted the Portland Timbers to a 1-1 home draw with Minnesota United on Saturday in Major League Soccer action. Anthony Markanich scored for the Loons in the 78th minute. The Timbers, who celebrated their 50 years of existence, will visit the Los Angeles Football Club this coming Friday at 7:30 PM. The Timbers find themselves in sixth place in the Western Conference of MLS.
