Current Too Much For Thorns

  At CPKC Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri: Lo'eau LaBonta (41'), Temwa Chawinga (63') and Haley Hopkins (90'+3) each scored once as the Kansas City Current defeated the visiting Portland Thorns 3-1 in Sunday NWSL action. Sophia Wilson scored the lone Portland goal in the 14th minute. The Thorns will play host to the Utah Royals this coming Saturday at 1:00 PM Pacific Time (ION TV). 

Quakes Prove Too Much For Timbers

  At Providence Park, Portland, Oregon: Preston Judd scored twice (2', 12') and Daniel Munie once (24') as the San Jose Earthquakes outdistanced the Portland Timbers 3-1 on the road in Saturday Major League Soccer action. Antony scored the lone Portland goal at 18 minutes. This marked the first time in 16 years that the Quakes defeated the Timbers in the Rose City.
